Bombay blood Group
H antigen deficiency is known as the "Bombay phenotype" (h/h, also known as Oh) and is found in 1 of 10,000 individuals in India and 1 in a million people in Europe The Bombay blood group is a rare blood group, phenotypes of this group lacking H antigen on the red cell membrane and have anti-H in the serum . It fails to express any A, B or H antigen on their red cells or other tissues. The existence of a human H/h genetic polymorphism was first established by Bhende et al. Though not as precious as golden blood, the Bombay blood type is also considered one of the rarest . Found in less than 0.0004% of the world population, it was discovered in Mumbai in 1952. The presence of antigen H makes it different.
